Technology is now an important part of every child's education. As it is something that is relatively new in schools, we need to remember that we need to not only teach the students, but ourselves as well that it is a tool for learning. Many teachers didn't grow up using technology to learn, so we need to work on that ourselves too.
When working with students it is important to teach them about safety online; that anything posted will forever remain there to see. Because anyone can post anything, it is also important to teach that not everything posted online is true and you need to decipher through that. Technology is not a toy to play with, it is a tool for learning.
Lastly, it is important to let parents know that it is important to talk about safety at home with their students as well. There should be rules about what they can and can't do online at home as well as at school.
