The digital environment is a rapidly changing place full of opportunities but also many potential pitfalls. I think perceived anonymity of an individual's online presence makes it easy for students to forget about the digital footprint that their actions can leave--forever. Just as teaching general citizenship and behavior is an important role for an educator, in an increasingly technological world in which students spend a good portion of their time online, it is important to teach them appropriate behavior for their "digital lives."
