What user rights do you feel should be part of the norms in this digital world? What user responsibilities do you feel should be expressed in this digital world?
Privacy and data protection are 2 important norms that should be respected. As a user, I always ask sites not to track or share my personal data. But I also know that information can be hacked and used without permission. I hate that companies are getting rich off of MY information.
Those that post should be allowed the protection of the right to free speech. That does not mean making harmful or treating comments. But if you disagree with something, you should be able to do so in a constructive manner.
Users need to remember that a "private" post is not really private. Even with your digital media "locked down" people can still screenshot and share posts that they don't agree with. With that being said, it is also important to think before you post. In this day and age, and with the current political climate, posts that just 2 years ago could've been deemed innocent, are now getting people into trouble. There are many states right now that are calling for the public to turn teachers in for posts that don't align with certain beliefs or ideals. This is a scary time to live in, and definitely a scary time to think that "free speech" in an online forum is a protected right.
