I enjoyed the introductory video where Wesley Fryer equates digital citizenship with actual citizenship and belonging to a community, country, world. As digital citizens and active participants in the virtual world, we should all enjoy privacy, security, freedom of expression, as well as access and virtual inclusion. These are basic norms and standards for virtual presence. With that, however, comes a myriad of responsibilities to ensure everyone’s safety, accountability, and transparency. Rights and responsibilities are intertwined and education on both will help guide new users into the digital future where they understand and apply both appropriately.
