What user rights do you feel should be part of the norms in this digital world? I feel like we should be able to post our thoughts, ideas, and creations in the digital world but in a respectful way. It is not ok to be disrespectful to others. It is also not ok to just post whatever you think without thinking about it before you post. Is my thoughts and feelings going to hurt other people? Could my thoughts cause harm to other people? Could I be causing damage to my reputation and my future? These are all things I think users need to understand as a part of a digital world.
What user responsibilities do you feel should be expressed in this digital world? People should understand what responsibilities they have using and posting on social media. They need to understand that what they post on Facebook, twitter, or whatever platform they use is seen by others they do not know. You need to make sure that you are posting or reposting factual information that comes from reliable sources. So many times now a days, people are reposting nonfactual posts. They are not doing checks to see if the post is from reliable sources. Again we also need to make sure that we are being respectful to other people. People should not be allowed to post hateful things that could put other people's lives and jobs in jeopardy just because they feel they have the right to. They should think of how it could make the other person reading it feel. We have seen more students with anxiety and depression in the last few years. I feel like social media has a lot to do with it. Students are deciding whether or not they are good, pretty, handsome or popular based on what other peoples' reactions to their post. If someone posts negative remarks and bully kids, then the kids can become suicidal.
