Norms and Responsibilities in the Digital Age

Cathy Mann
I am on social media almost daily, I see a lot of disrespect going on.  It seems so easy to be the bully behind the screen, so often if someone doesn't agree with another person's opinion they just blast them!  I would hope that isn't how the person would treat someone face to face.  We can forget so quickly that everyone is entitled to their opinion, you may not agree with them but you shouldn't ridicule them either.

I agree. I wish we could all just respect each other's opinions. If you don't like what you see scroll by. When people continually post things I don't agree with and get tired of seeing them, I don't reply, I blocked them for a few days. More than likely, we aren't going to change someone's opinions behind a screen.

Yes, people should think, "If I wouldn't say this face to face, I probably shouldn't say it on the internet."

I agree completely with this. I see so much being said that I know the person would not actually say that to someone's face. It is so important for students to understand this.
