Norms and Responsibilities

Jason Reyerson
The Iowa Core does include a brief statement relating digital citizenship in 21.grade.TL.5
"Advocate and practice safe, legal, and responsible use of information and technology at an age–appropriate level."  The first bullet under 21.grade.TL.5 includes the words "does no harm".
I think the words safe, legal, and does not harm encompass the rights of everyone.  I also think norms will be most appropriately developed on an age basis with examples of those norms or maybe a conversation about the violations of those norms.  Those norms will likely expand as students get older.

Wording is there in the Iowa Core to direct us in keeping students safe. "Do no harm" is like an oath. Students and teachers must take on this oath as their own responsibility and ethical duty.
