In this day and age, the students should understand their rights. Even bigger is that the parents need to know as we all grew up in a different era. One issue that I see is that even though they have rights, they also are subject to consequences. Many feel that it is the schools responsibility to teach this, but there also has to be follow up and discussions happening at home.
