I think locations should always be an option. Also, the default setting for location should always be off.
The same should be for those who can see the content that you post. The default should be only people I know/am friends with are the only ones that can see my posts.
The last thing that has started to plague the internet is the Cancel Culture movement. The moment anything that is posted that some people find offensive everyone goes into attack mode. Trying to dig up every little thing that the person has posted and try to expose the person for the bad person they think they are. Some times people just need a place to go where they can express their feelings and vent to an audience without it being taken so severely.
