Norms and Responsibilities

As the video discussed, we are pioneers, so many of the digital rights and responsibilities are being written as we go.  I believe in freedom of speech, however people also need to understand that there is a time and place for certain opinions.  At our 1 to 1 school, I see students using computers responsibly and effectively, but many times we do see the students abusing their rights to use computer / internet.  Students need to be taught at an earlier age on the rights and responsibilities of using the computers.  I do NOT believe that the ones to teach students are limited to the teachers in the classroom but the parents need to teach their students as well.  Students need to be taught to be good digital citizens and the appropriate uses of social media, email, blogging, internet research, etc.
