Within my classroom, we do not have the opportunity to use the internet often because I am a music teacher. However, I have 3 children under the age of 12 and it terrifies me to think what the digital world will continue to do as they get older. They already have a better understanding than I do of HOW to use the technology available to them. I only wish that they knew more of the safety aspect of it. I am trying to instill good practices to them so that they can make wise choices, but how can they choose not to look at something when they don't even know it exists? I think we really need to be proactive in teaching our youth about the good, the bad, and the ugly of the internet. It can be a wonderful resource and tool if used appropriately!
