As I've read through the material, and as I've seen students as well as other youth on the internet during and outside of class, I think it's important for each student or person on the internet to have the right to express himself or herself as well as the right to privacy. Within these rights comes responsibility because that freedom of expression has limits as one processes what is appropriate (ie: helpful, challenging, kind, thoughtful) and what is harmful (ie: damaging, hurtful, irresponsible).
I think that it is important to be aware of one's rights as well as understanding the responsibility that comes with those rights. It's important to learn and teach how important it is to understand that a simple statement or post affects others in a positive or negative way, and it's important to learn and teach how to construct posts or ideas respectfully, honoring the people around us. That is our responsibility.
