With expansion into the digital world, all citizens (especially the youth that I teach) need to adhere to basic societal norms. Treating others with respect, honesty and fair trade, personal as well as business ethics, etc aren't just skills that should be practiced online but more importantly in their everyday life.
When students get themselves into trouble online often the reason stems back to poor judgement rather than a lack of education. Digital citizenship is taught at all age levels of students with reminders from a variety of areas in the curriculum.
