Norms and Responsibilities

I believe that not only should school districts be teaching the responsibilities of interacting in a digital world, but it needs to be constantly revisited and most importantly-modeled! Students are of an age where their world is still very concrete but then involved the majority of the day in the abstract world of the internet. They require constant reminders that their actions in the digital world have real effects in the personal world. While I feel morals and personal standards should start at home, we cannot count on these being taught or modeled in their household. As school staff, we are mentors and role models that should demonstrate how mutual respect and regard to others well being should carry into our interactions in the digital world.
