Norms and Responsibility

 Just like every tool we use, we need to know how to use it safely. Adults and children need to be taught how to be responsible and safe on the internet. Our technology is ever changing. Our students are very comfortable with technology. Many students in my third-grade class already have smart phones. We need to teach safety and how to be responsible at a very young age because they are using it at a much younger age today. We need to discuss the right to privacy and free speech in our classrooms. We need to teach the norms and appropriate response when it comes to using the internet. They need to know that it will be out there forever. Never post anything that is negative or inappropriate. Always be positive and appropriate.
