Norms and responsibilities

I believe that before students are allowed to use technology in schools they should have to take a digital citizenship course. The norms for internet use should be the same as they are in the analog world. Treat others fairly and respectfully. If used inappropriately then the technology should be taken away. I believe the use of technology is a privledge not a right. We as parents and educators need to educate children on the lasting impression of whatever they do on the internet.  I believe that children should not be able to use the internet independently until they are able to show an understanding of the rules and responsibilities of an interest user. I think too many children are using the internet unsupervised without understanding the rules of digital citizenship.
