Norms and responsibilities

I think norms that establish respect and courtesy for others is important. Too often, people feel that the internet is a place to bash individuals or groups that they disagree with, and they are left free of consequence because of the internet's anonymity. Social media is particularly toxic for this reason. I think it is our responsibility to keep our online presence civil, not take advantage of others through scams and identity theft, not steal intellectual property that does not belong to us, and limit our use to a moderate amount of time each day. We need to be aware of screen addiction, personal attacks on social media, and the dangers of scams, and take preventative measure against these threats.
