Norms and responsibilities

jhuber
The rights I feel should be the norm in the digital world are the right to privacy, safety and free speech. Online accounts require to much personal information and too many places require sign in. Most people have a huge digital footprint because of this. A person's information should be kept private and safe from hackers.

The user responsibilities I feel should be expressed in this digital world are maintaining the privacy of others, treating others with respect online, conducting business in a legal and ethical manner and doing your best to keep your information safe. Students should ask permission before posting another's picture or any information about them.  Students need to respect others and treat them online as a real, actual human being. Also, teaching students that once you post online, it's there forever and can be accessed by anyone.

I agree with this.  Your comments on student knowledge and use are especially important in a world where many see the digital realm as a cloak for anonymity where one can say what they want without consequence.
