Norms and responsibilities

Bethany Mallory
When I think about norms and responsibilities, it makes me think of all of the time, energy, and consideration that teachers put into the teaching of social norms in the classroom.  The statistics that show the amount of time that youth and young adults spend engaged in the digital world are too large to be ignored.  I see the need for time, energy, and consideration of the digital citizenship education for students to be as important in today's world as the teaching of social norms in the classroom.  So often, adults are not with their child to see and/or hear interactions of a child in the digital world so that immediate correction is not part of the learning piece.  Parents and teachers must take deliberate and intentional efforts to teach digital citizenship for the well-being of our culture.
