Educators are the forefather's of the internet highway and should be able to blaze a trail for future children to know the rules and regulations that should guide their path. We, as educators, have the responsibility to try and remain steps ahead of our students to maintain the norms and responsibilites they should question when engaging in the internet. We have to keep ourselves educated to the latest technology. Children absorb the internet knowledge of what is out there and can be enticed and lead astray very easily by all types of predators trying to gain an illegal advantage. Educators remaining a knowledgeable source for children to seek about the subjects will keep them listening. We also need to listen to what the children are learning independently in order to keep up with the latest technology they are leaning toward, good or bad, and jump at the chance to learn from them also. We should not stagnate their desire to learn, embrace what they know and help them make higher educated choices to not become like or support those that want to cause harm to our social beliefs.
The user rights I feel that should be part of the norms in this digital world should reflect the laws of our country. The user responsibilities I feel should be expressed in this digital world should pattern after any other law we are responsible to abide by morally and ethically. We should not stiffle the progress of the digital world but enhance it with our human creativity to expand our knowledge and possibilities under these norms and responsibilities we abide by as a society.
