Norms and responsibilities

Lisa Parcell
I feel people should have the right to have the information they provide be secure and the information provided be accurate.  Unfortunately, that is not always the case. We need to teach students how to keep their information safe by changing passwords frequently and not sharing it with others. Students also need to be taught critical thinking skills to determine if information they are viewing is true.

User responsibilities should include being respectful of others. This would include using language that is appropriate for all age groups. People should refrain from using profanity when posting. Students need to realize what they do online is a reflection of themselves and is permanent.

I believe it is important to teach digital citizenship because we want to keep our students safe in the digital world. It's also important that we respect rights to other's privacy. When you write something on the internet, it automatically becomes public and permanent!
