Norms and responsibilities

Digital rights for all people would include freedom of speech and use. It is true that people have a right to express themselves and their opinion. However, as a responsibility, we must keep in mind that these thoughts should be expressed in a polite and meaningful way. All people should put thought into what they put out there for the world to see and realize the comments they leave others should be done with good purpose. Considering responsibility, it is also important for students to know that once they put an image, thought, or post out there, it is impossible to guarantee privacy or ill use by others.

We should also have rights to trust that our personal information is kept safe, whether it is banking, health or other personal information. Responsibilities here would be for people to keep others information safe and follow the guidelines necessary to do so.

 Considering responsibilities, students should be taught to use technology/online resources appropriately. Maybe if more students were exposed to good use with discussion and why being respectful is preferred, maybe more students would think twice before getting themselves into a situation that cannot be reversed.
