Planning a road trip around Italy in April

Maldonado
I've decided to drive around Italy this April. Renaissance culture has always fascinated me, Italian architecture speaks to my soul, and their cuisine is among my absolute favorites. I want to travel the country, see everything with my own eyes, and eat authentic food prepared by Italian chefs. Where can I find a decent car for this trip?

April sounds brilliant for that kind of trip, you'll miss the summer madness but still get decent weather for driving. Roads between smaller towns can be winding and narrow, so something compact works better than a big SUV. Plus parking in old city centers is a nightmare if you're in anything massive, those medieval streets weren't built for modern cars.

Tuscany and Umbria have incredible hill towns that most tourists skip because they're harder to reach, but that's exactly where you'll find the real Italy away from selfie crowds. Same goes for trattorias in small villages, the food there beats anything in Florence or Rome city centers. To actually get to those places you need your own transport though. You can rent a car in Italy here https://getrentacar.com/en-US/italy . Listings from local owners across different cities, you can filter by car type and price range, read reviews from previous renters, and book directly with the owner who'll meet you at a convenient spot.
