I have always found Facebook to be frustrating. I just re-explored the privacy settings and they haven't changed in the past few months, but they seem to fine tune the settings frequently. The settings are also very granular, nearly every post can have it's privacy changed and that's a lot for an adult to think about, never mind a 13-year-old. Looking at Google+, I find it to also be quite frustrating to interpret.
I find Instagram and Twitter to be almost to simple to be true. With one setting the entire account is set to "private" and only requested/accepted friends or "followers" can see what has been posted. Unfortunately, I see no way to remove or "unfriend" existing followers if you changed the settings after having had your account "open" to the world.
I really appreciate that Diigo's default settings (at least that's what I'm assuming they are since I've had an account for 2 years and haven't touched it) are set to the highest level of privacy. I wish more social media apps would default to increased security and privacy.
