Reading assignment #3- Allison Gray

The articles were varying enlighten to read. The school that I currently work at needs to change because the demographics for the school are changing. The traditional approach to teaching is leaving student withdrawn and seeking attention in negative ways. The statistics seem to support art integration to help students cognitive growth and to shift their mind set. The benefits of art integration would definitely improve the culture at our school. There is a lot of pressure to collaborate and have common goals among grade levels, but also to have your students be proficient on standardized tests. Incorporating art integration with not only benefit students, but teachers as well.

Art integration has many benefits: promoting creativity, confidence and pride are a few benefits for students. Schools that have already integrated art into their curriculum are seeing less referrals, improved social attitudes, and boosts academics. The world is changing students need to be more creative, to become better thinkers and to think about situations differently. Teaching the traditional way does not seem to fit with our changing society.
