Before we are allowed to drive a vehicle, we take on the responsibilities of knowing how to drive. Internet User responsibility is no different. We need to teach ourselves and others how to "Drive"the Internet. The physical world has road signs and rules. When we drive there are consequences when we "brake the rules".
This maybe extreme but as parents, we keep our children safe from drowning by teaching them to swim. we teach them how to operate a motor vehicle and what to look out when driving. ie: pedestrians, reckless drivers, things that run in front of drivers without looking. There are no 'road signs' or physical hazards on the internet but there are 'clues'. A site asking personal information, or 'pop-ups'.
Virtual hazards are harder to monitor than in the physical world. But if we can teach our youth to look for the abnormal we might be able to save them from themselves.
