Rights, Norms, and responsibilities

Student access and interaction with digital information and media is tantamount to how they access and interact with the outside physical world.

For example...

Looking both ways before crossing the street would be like thinking twice before clicking on a link.
The consequences for either event is not good if precaution isn't used.

Or...

Determining the legitimacy of information you are receiving by verifying it before using it whether you get it from a person or from a website.


I believe once students grasp the concept that the digital world is a manifestation of the physical world, they will see why it's important to the learn skills in navigating the digital world just like how they are learning to become citizens of society.

Our role as educators is to guide them in using the internet and tools in a positive way that helps them make good decisions, become lifelong learners, and most importantly understand how the digital world affects them especially when it's changing so quickly.
