Users of the internet have the right to privacy and should respect the privacy of others. They should tell the truth as best they know it and expect others to tell the truth. They should make it obvious when they are expressing an opinion versus fact. Users should not commit or advocate for crimes. Everyone has the responsibility to follow the laws of their country, treat others with respect, and report abuses.
I agree with Michael Seeman in his comment about students: "They need to be taught the social norms of the digital world." As educators, we have a responsibility to help students learn to deal with the positive and negative aspects of interactions on the Internet.
