As a substitute teacher, I have had little training on Digital Citizenship as I have worked around the district. I was subbing at the middle school yesterday when an adult told a student that what she was doing could get her ipad taken away. Seeing that this student seemed to be a "good student" I asked her discreetly what she had done. She said she was pointing her ipad at another student and the adult thought she was taking pictures. This was not allowed.
Needless to say, I had never thought of the implications of taking pictures or recording fellow classmates. It seems harmless enough but I am aware of many news articles that pose the problem of kids using pictures and videos to hurt someone's reputation or to bully them. It obviously starts with kids understanding their boundaries.
Hence my decision to take this course. :)
