As an elementary teacher and mother to young children, I feel it is important to stress and teach the importance of how to safely use this digital world they have before them. It is my responsibility to inform students how to safely navigate the internet and help decipher between proper and improper use. It is important to communicate that we all have freedom of speech, but also remind students that not all information that is presented is factual. It is our jobs as educators to educate students about the consequences of the web as well; for example, teaching them about the digital footprint they will leave.
