I feel like the rights we have in our daily lives are the same rights we should carry into our digital lives, but having said that we also must balance those rights with the same responsibilities we have in our daily lives. I think children often reason that because they are not saying or doing things in " real life" when they are online that they often disregard those rights and responsibilities. For example, you would never give a stranger your name and number on the street, but because you can not see them you have a false sense of security behind the screen. We need to teach our children to be diligent in protecting themselves, their personal information, and the manner in which they present themselves. We are all leaving a digital footprint that will be see for years. We need to make sure that it represents who we are and our values. If you wouldn't do it in "everyday life" then you shouldn't be doing it online.
