Rights and Responsibilities

I think the internet is an awesome and powerful tool.  As far as rights go I think it has become a right that all students have access to technology.  This is necessary to their academic success.  I think that students should have the right to free speech as well as privacy.  
Having said that I think here in the US we are far to concerned with our rights and not enough with the responsibilities that go along with it.  I think we need to teach how to be respectful of others on  the internet.  We also need to teach students how to properly research and site sources.  We need to teach them what personal info to put on the internet and what to withhold to keep them safe.  We have a responsiblility to teach parents as well tools to keep their children safe on the internet a well.
