Rights and responsibilities - Sharon Ball

What user rights do you feel should be part of the norms in this digital world?  
I feel that everyone should have the right to privacy and the freedom to share their point of view should be the norm for many platforms in the digital world. However, the rights need to be monitored for children whether they are at home, at school, or in the library for safety reasons. Unfortunately, in our current world, there are too many situations that are occurring with cyberbullying, and misuse in many areas that are having unfortunate outcomes. Technology in the digital world is to be used as a tool. Although there are so many social connections through the digital world, many are missing the human connection, and social-emotional well-being is disrupted and causing health issues for many.

What user responsibilities do you feel should be expressed in this digital world?  Teaching students or your own children that being responsible and accountable for their actions and word choice to communicate is so important. Students need to remember that safety measures are a part of school & hopefully home computers, however in public spaces where there is shared technology the safety measures may not be in place. If a student accidentally came across a site or experienced cyberbullying it is their responsibility to report the misconduct to a responsible adult.
