SOCIAL MEDIA SETTINGS ANALYSIS
I do a good deal of activist work on the facebook platform-private and public groups as well as my own wall. I interact with a very broad network and at times wander into hostile environments where scary creatures may follow me out before I leave. The private groups are all set to “Members Only” to minimize infiltration and trolling, but that setting eliminates the Share function. My personal page is “Public” as I use FB for information-sharing, not family stuff. I have considered creating an alias just for protection, as some of my interactions are with bad actors. Some of them find their way to my personal page (public setting!) which necessitates me to stay on top of blocking them. I do NOT interact with obvious trolls.
I have chosen not to be on Twitter (“X”), Instagram or TikTok as my hands are full with FB.
