Share Post #2: Inappropriate Use of Digital Media

I can recall one experience when I was the recipient of an inappropriate use of digital media. When I was much younger, at the start of MSN Messenger, I was using the digital media to connect with friends at school. I was so desperate for friends, I added people to my friends list who I knew about, but wasn't actually friends with. Long story short, a person started a conversation with me and they were rude, so I was rude back and ended up deleting them from my contact list because I didn't like they way they were treating me. This made me feel, for lack of other words, stupid, for adding this person to my contact list in the first place. What I should have done differently is only add friends to my contact list who were actually my real friends and who I felt comfortable talking with. It's easy to say now, but I also wish my parents or teachers were more involved with this new digital media so I could learn safe practices at such a young age, but I also understand that this was so new, we were all learning safe practices together. I definitely learned from my mistake.

I remember those days. I added more people that I was close friends with also. For me, I would start conversations with others and half of the time if they responded, the conversations didn't lost long haha. After a while I would delete people because I realized the conversations weren't very exciting anyway.
