A student at our school was using the restroom and her friend thought it would be funny to take a picture of her on the toilet. The student reached her phone over the door and took the pictures. She then shared it with another student. Of course the photo was spread to many students and the student was mortified and hurt emotionally. The student who took the photo was suspended. She did not realize that she could be charged with a criminal act. After this happened the school posted signs in the bathrooms that recording devices may not enter the room. These should have been posted earlier as a deterrent.

There have been similar instances where there have been fights in bathrooms and students have recorded it, shared it, and even got to the point that the police have gotten involved.  There was and instance at my in-laws school where a student recorded another student urinating on him and putting head in the urinal.  They shared the video and the students got in trouble not realizing that even though they are 12, they were charged with numerous things like assault, bullying, even cyber bullying.  Things are just different today than when I was younger.
