Other than LinkedIn, which I really don't count as social media, my only social media presence is Facebook. There are definitely times I'd like to walk away from that, but having taught internationally for so many years, FB is the primary way I stay in touch with friends around the world. So, with assignment, I went into my privacy settings and realized that in the past I was not as thorough as I should have been in terms of the settings. I had set the obvious ones regarding who can see your posts, who can access your profile, etc. to "friends" a long time ago, but I hadn't noticed the lower settings that dealt with linking to your profile from other websites and through using your phone number. Sending friend requests had been limited to "friends of friends" but the rest were too public. I've gone back and changed them accordingly. However, it definitely reinforced the need to be aware of ALL of the privacy settings, not just the obvious ones.
