I have been a regular user of Facebook and Twitter for some time now, and I have gone back and forth on privacy settings. Initially, both accounts were locked down pretty tight for privacy settings. I still maintain a "Friends Only" privacy setting on Facebook, but I've since sort of changed my philosophy a bit. I essentially use my Facebook for personal relationships and communication, but now consider my @MrsGobokarTwitter account to be a professional account, and have opened up my settings so that I don't get notifications for each and every interaction. I always encourage teachers in my building to be careful with their social media posts and their privacy settings as well.
