Social Media and Online Identities - Marija Musselman

What social networking site did you explore and what settings in that site should users be aware?
For this opportunity I explored two social media networks, Facebook and Instagram. While I do have accounts and they are a great way to keep in touch with people, I find that time wastes away when engaging with them. As a result, I've been away from Facebook for a fairly significant amount of time. Maybe when reengaging, it will renew my interest.
Facebook settings users should be aware of are the location settings, notifications, reactions, connected apps and websites, and off Facebook activity. Location settings are important to protect your safety. The. notification setting may help with social media becoming an ongoing distraction. The reactions setting may help with the impact of having or not having enough likes or dealing with hurtful comments. Connected apps and websites and off Facebook activity is important to check so you know what information is being shared and with whom.
Instagram settings users should be aware of are the Post, Stories, Comments setting and Ad Preferences setting. The Post, Stories and Comments allows control over who can like or comment on items posted. The Ad Preferences setting you can turn off whether they can web browsing or online purchasing data to personalize ads.
After watching the video I definitely need to step up checking my privacy settings.
