Social Media and Online Identities

When I reviewed my Facebook privacy settings, I found that my account is fairly secure. I don’t share my phone number or email address, even with friends. My birthday is listed, but only friends can see it, and the year is hidden. It's important to regularly check and adjust your privacy settings on Facebook. You can control who sees your 'About' information, and not all friends need access to everything. You can also limit who can send you friend requests, though I have that open, I'm just selective about who I accept. That said, I was once hacked, not just cloned. They initially hacked my email account to gain access. It was a scary experience, as recovering a hacked account is nearly impossible. I was able to get my account back, but only because they posted something inappropriate, and I used my ID to verify my identity and recover the account.
