I learned that social media setting should be checked on a MONTHLY basis. Ask yourself the following question, "Am I comfortable with sharing this information with a stranger?".
I explored facebook and found that many of the privacy setting had the following options: Only you/Friends/Public. This gives you the ability to show what you are comfortable with.
