Although I see many positives with using social networking aps, I feel they are often overused. It seems like good ole face to face communications are being replaced by more non-personal and less authentic forms of communications. That said, there is value in using social media in a balanced way and when safety his stressed. I think it is important to regularly review privacy settings and to watch over teenagers especially that use accounts like twitter, facebook and snapchat. I keep my settings on the tightest privacy for who sees my account and how data is shared. Teachers should take an active role in helping students to be aware of the potential dangers in using social networking and letting them know the different settings that can be used to provide maximum safety.
