Social media settings

Dianne Strickler
I use Facebook mainly.  I have settings set so only Friends see them and do not use other ones.  I regularly check my friends list to see if I should like to remove anyone, I don't share with all either as some are not close friends but acquaintances that I keep in touch with periodically.      Personal settings do not need to be shown to all as those that know us best have the information anyway.
It is a good thing to review periodically to make sure things are still set as you want them or maybe to make some additional changes.
We need to continually go over safety precautions with our young people as they do not have the maturity levels of thinking to keep them from making the wrong choices on these settings.   I know my children monitor their girls' activity while still allowing them some freedoms as they get older.  My daughter is especially on point about this because of her training in the medical and emergency services fields.

Re: Social media settings

I primarily use X or Twitter, Facebooks sometimes, and most recently Instagram with privacy settings that allow only friends to see my posts. I regularly review my friends list to decide if I want to remove anyone, as I only share with close friends and not all acquaintances.

It's important to review these settings regularly to ensure they still meet your preferences and make changes if needed.

We should consistently discuss safety precautions with young people, as they might not have the maturity to make the best choices about these settings. My children keep an eye on their daughters' online activities while granting them some freedom as they grow older. My daughter is particularly vigilant due to her background in medical and emergency services.
