Stepwise Tutorial: Adding Created Players to Your MLB The Show 26 Roster

NovaPulse
If you enjoy customizing your experience in MLB The Show 26, one of the most satisfying ways to do it is by adding your own created players to your roster. Whether you want to insert a superstar version of yourself or a fantasy player you’ve dreamed up, the process is straightforward once you know the steps. Here’s a practical, step-by-step guide to help you get your custom player into your team’s lineup.

Step 1: Create and Save Your Player
From the main menu, navigate to the Create tab.
Select Create a Player.
Customize your player’s name, position, appearance, and animations to your liking.
Pro Tip: Maximize your player’s attributes to a 99 overall rating during creation. This makes them much easier to locate later in the massive Free Agent list.
Once complete, assign your new player to the Free Agents pool.

This step is crucial because Free Agents serve as the “holding area” for all created players before they’re placed on a team.

Step 2: Move the Player to Your Chosen Team
Return to the main menu and enter Roster Control, which you can find under Create or Settings.
Select Player Movement.
Scroll through the teams until you reach the Free Agents list.
Locate your created player—sorting by overall rating helps if you maximized their stats.
Select the player, then navigate to your desired MLB team roster.
Swap your created player with a lower-rated minor league player to maintain proper roster size. A low-A ball player you don’t plan to use is usually the easiest choice.

At this point, your player is officially part of your team, though they aren’t yet saved to a custom roster file.

Step 3: Save the Custom Roster File
Exit the Roster Control menu.
Go to Settings and choose File Management.
Select Save, then pick Roster.
Give the file a clear name, such as “Custom Created Player Roster”, so you can quickly identify it later.

Saving the roster ensures your changes are stored permanently and ready to be loaded in any game mode.

Step 4: Load the Roster Into Your Game Mode

To actually play with your created player in Franchise Mode or Exhibition, you need to load your custom roster manually:

From the main menu, choose your preferred game mode (e.g., Franchise).
When asked to select a roster, pick Load Custom Roster instead of “Live Roster” or “Default Roster.”
Select your saved roster file.
Your created player will now appear on the team’s active or minor league roster from day one.

And that’s it! Once loaded, you can jump into games knowing your custom player is fully integrated into the MLB 26 world.

By following these four steps—creating, moving, saving, and loading—you can seamlessly add your own players and fully customize your MLB The Show 26 experience. Whether you’re looking to dominate the league with a super-player or just enjoy a bit of creative fun, this process makes it easy to personalize your roster.
