Maybe I'm just not cut out for this car ownership stuff but I feel like no matter how much I read I still end up confused when something actually goes wrong. My car's been starting fine, no issues at all, but the other day I popped the hood for something unrelated and noticed the battery terminals have this white crusty stuff building up around them. Looked online and got about seventeen different opinions, some say it's normal, some say it means the battery is leaking, some say clean it immediately, some say leave it alone. I tried to
find out more information from a few different sources but honestly they all seem to say slightly different things and I don't know who to trust. One place says use coke cola to clean it, another says that's terrible advice, use baking soda instead. One says it means the battery is overcharging, another says it's just normal evaporation. How is the average person supposed to figure this out when even the experts can't agree? Car's a 2016 Yaris, battery is probably two years old, no starting problems at all. Should I actually be worried about this or just ignore it until something happens? Really tired of overthinking every little thing with this car.
