As a substitute in two districts that use the Google suite of apps including Gmail the students have ready access to their assignments and many resources. However, as a substitute, I have almost no access to the instructions and resources left by the regular teacher to help the students move forward with their assignments. It is my intention to recommend to the administration that a "substitute" class member be added to each teacher's classes in order for the occasional substitute to have access and be better prepared to assist students. I have found these videos very helpful as I have used Gmail for 10 years or more and did not know of the many options available in Gmail.
