I see a lot of people saying you should always use RAG services instead of hiring, but I think people are missing the long term costs. We used a RAG service for 18 months and ended up paying almost $200k. For that money we could have hired a really good RAG engineer and owned the whole thing. Am I crazy or is this a really bad deal for anyone who needs RAG long term?
