Twitter- Hannah Lenz

HannahLenz
I have not myself used Twitter until now, although the elementary school I teach at has a Twitter account. In exploring Twitter, some of the accounts and hashtags I find useful are as follows:

@voxdotcom
I visit the website for this account frequently so I was happy to find it on Twitter. It provides fairly concise updates on current events, which I find helpful as a classroom teacher. My students sometimes bring up an issue from a current event, so it is important that I am aware of the facts, and therefore able to respond appropriately. This might be having a classroom discussion, when applicable, or deferring to the students' parents when needed.

#lexia
My district has used Lexia Core 5 as a literacy supplement in the classroom for the past few years. Strangely, I was not able to find a Twitter account for Lexia, but have found helpful information and tips from teachers at this hashtag.

#picturebooks  and   #teacherreadalouds
I love discovering books to use in my classroom. Books are perfect for introducing a topic, supplementing instruction, helping kids see diversity and have empathy for others. Both of these hashtags have great suggestions for picture books and read alouds, as well as ideas for when to use them in the classroom.
