The primary benefit that I see with using the google suite of applications is the ability to use it to communicate to individuals, small groups of students, classes or to all students who you see throughout the day. At Columbia High school we currently have Edmodo and Managebac as tools that perform the exact same functions. In this case it would be inappropriate to use Google + in the classroom setting. One of the key elements of having a building (system) wide program, is the built in security factors for both the students and the teachers.
