User rights, etc.

First, I found it curious how many people used their first and last names here.  I am sure it is totally "safe" but still; remember, we should assume that anything we post, email, tweet, etc can be read by someone else.  And, we should stress this to our students.

Yes, I believe it is important to teach our students about the rights, uses and dangers of the cyber world.  At the same time, we can not control what they do.  I remember an in-service I attended at which the presenter made the claim that we, as teachers, are responsible if bullying happens in our school.  It was one of the reasons I left!!!  It is hard enough be a teacher and teaching our classes, but to have put on our shoulders the responsibility for everything our students do is unrealistic and unfair.  

We should do our best to teach our students about Digital Citizenship.  We (I) do not need to feel responsible each time a young person uses the digital world incorrectly.
